Meet the Team at Anne’s Lane Dental, Dublin
Dr. Paul Hooi BDentSc (TCD), Dip PCD (RCSI)
Paul is an experienced general dentist who completed his dental training at the Dublin Dental University Hospital, Trinity College Dublin. His approach to dentistry is caring, conscientious and exacting. He is passionate about dentistry and understands that taking the time to identify the specific concerns of each patient allows their individual treatment goals to be achieved.
Prior to dentistry, Paul qualified as a mechanical engineer and gained his MSc with distinction in computer-aided engineering from Queen’s University, Belfast before working in the medical device industry as a mechanical engineer. His commitment to research in dentistry and continuing professional development led him to complete his PhD in dental ceramic materials. His technical experience positively influences his approach to dentistry and Paul is experienced in providing veneers, crown and bridge, root canal treatments, implant crowns and removable orthodontic treatments.
Patients generally appreciate having the details of their proposed dental treatment explained and find his enthusiasm means they are well informed about the various treatment options available to enhance their smile. A commitment to lifelong learning is important to Paul and he enjoys regularly attending dental conferences both nationally and internationally. In addition, Paul has published and presented his own peer-reviewed original research to dentists and dental researchers here in Ireland and at international conferences. Previously, he has taught undergraduate dental students at Dublin Dental University Hospital.
Paul recognises that every dentist also needs to be a patient sometimes, and understands the experience of the dental visit from the perspective of the nervous patient. He looks forward to welcoming you and placing you at ease with his friendly and impressionable manner.
