New patient? Nervous patient? Here’s what to expect at your first visit!March 7, 2017
If it’s been a while since you last saw the dentist, the thought of a visit can be a bit daunting.
At Anne’s Lane we have years of experience welcoming new and nervous patients to our clinic, and gently helping them to achieve optimum oral health again. If you have any concerns or anxiety about treatment, be sure to tell us so we can better accommodate you.
At your first visit we can keep things simple. Following a discussion of your medical history we will check your whole mouth for any signs of disease.
This includes looking at your gums, tongue and cheeks as well as your teeth.
This process only uses a small mirror, and sometimes a gentle spray of air to dry your teeth and check them properly.
We usually require X-rays to adequately check under your gums and in between teeth for disease.
The X-rays are taken using a very small plastic square inside your mouth for less than 5 seconds.
Once we have gathered this information, we will discuss your treatment needs and different options with you. We can put a plan together that you are clear and comfortable with.
Don’t forget sedation is available with us at all treatment stages.
Check back next week for tips on making your visits easier for yourself!
